Shortwave Radio - Small Wind Up Radio with Torch - AM FM SW & Solar

The Terrabound Shortwave Radio is a small wind up radio with AM, FM and two shortwave bands, so you can still hear the news when the power, the internet and the phone signal go. It fits in one hand, clips to a bag by its carabiner and carries its own torch and a USB top-up for your phone.

Inside is a 2000 mAh lithium battery that charges by USB at home, from the solar panel along the top in daylight, or from the hand crank that folds flat against the side. The telescopic antenna pulls in local AM and FM stations, and the two shortwave bands reach broadcasts from much further away when the local stations go quiet.

Most cheap crank radios fail for one reason: a sealed battery that has quietly died in the drawer. This one opens at the back, so when the cell finally wears out you swap it for a new one and keep the radio. That makes it ready for the next power cut, year after year, and small enough to live in the car, the grab bag or the tent pocket in between.

Key Features:

• AM, FM and two shortwave bands with a telescopic antenna, so you hear local news and long-distance broadcasts without mains, internet or phone signal.
• Swappable 2000 mAh lithium battery behind a back door, so an old cell is replaced in seconds instead of the whole radio.
• Three ways to charge with USB at home, the solar panel in daylight and the fold-flat hand crank when there is no socket at all.
• USB output gives your phone an emergency top-up from the charged radio battery during a power cut.
• LED torch built into the end lights the way to the fuse box, and the alert button sounds an alarm to call for help.
• Digital tuning with scan, station memory and a clock on the display, plus a key lock and a headphone jack for listening at night.
• Small and light enough for one hand, with a wrist strap and carabiner in the box, in high-visibility orange or low-key grey.

Terrabound makes practical kit for days outside and for the nights the power goes off. Keep this one where you can reach it in the dark: the kitchen drawer, the glovebox or the side pocket of your rucksack.

Pair it with one of our rechargeable head torches for hands-free light when the power is out.
