Hiking Sandals - Quick-Dry Lightweight - Outdoor Walking & Trail Sandals
Skip to content
The Terrabound Hiking Sandals are a water-resistant outdoor sandal built for walkers who want to go further without the weight of boots. Most sandals fall apart the moment the path gets rough or the ground gets wet - slipping, blistering, and staying soaked for hours after a stream crossing. These are built for the conditions UK walkers actually encounter.
The quick-dry mesh upper handles water crossings and wet ground then dries within minutes - no waterlogged footwear for the rest of the day. A bungee-toggle cord at the front locks the fit in seconds, an adjustable heel strap keeps the foot planted on descents, and a textured grip footbed prevents the foot from sliding on the bed itself when wet. The rubber outsole provides grip on trail, wet stone, and coastal ground.
Suited to coastal paths, river crossings, campsite use, and everything in between, the Terrabound Hiking Sandals deliver the versatility of a summer sandal with the practicality of a trail shoe. Available in five colourways, UK sizes 5-12.
Key Features:
Practical enough for the trail, comfortable enough for the campsite - a single pair that earns its place in the bag on any summer trip.

A closed-toe walking sandal with a quick-dry mesh upper, a bungee-toggle fit and a rubber trail sole. Through the stream, up the coast path, and still comfortable at the campsite that evening.
That's what a beach sandal earns on a real path: thin straps that saw at your skin, a flat sole that slides on wet rock, and a soaked pair for the rest of the day. This is a different thing. A closed-toe bumper, a bungee cord that pulls the whole upper snug in one tug, an adjustable heel strap, and a textured footbed that keeps your foot planted on descents. Built for the walk, not the pool.
"Bought these for a walking holiday in Portugal. Wore them every day and had zero blisters. Really impressed."
The mesh upper lets water straight back out. Wade a stream or get caught in a shower and you're walking in a dry pair again within minutes, instead of squelching through the afternoon.
A bungee-toggle cord pulls the whole upper snug in a second, no buckles to fiddle with mid-walk. An adjustable heel strap keeps your foot from sliding forward on the downhills.
A wet, smooth footbed is where most sandals fail: the foot slides, the straps rub, the blisters start. This footbed is textured, so a wet foot stays planted where you put it.
A proper rubber outsole, not the flat foam of a beach sandal, so it holds on wet stone, harbour slipways, gravel and uneven coastal ground.
The closed toe takes the knocks from roots, rocks and the odd dropped pebble that an open sandal leaves to your toenails. Sandal airflow, shoe protection.
Light enough to live in the pack as the second pair, sturdy enough to be the first. The coast path, the river crossing and the walk to the showers, in the same pair.
based on verified customer reviews. What walkers mention most: comfortable from the first wear, light, and they dry fast after a crossing.
from UK 4 to 12, half sizes included. A sandal only works if the fit is right, so the scale is finer than most.
Black, Blue, Brown, Green and Beige. Same build, same sole, same fit in every one.
Love your flip-flops by the pool? Keep them. These are for the paths they were never built for.
Read any walking-sandal test and the same three failures come up, year after year: they stay soaked, the foot slides on a wet footbed, the straps drift until they rub. Each one is a design decision, and each one is answered in this build. Our customers put it better than we can:
"They dried out quickly after stream crossings and the grip is solid on uneven ground."
"The sole is well supported and there's no slip between the sole of my foot and the sandal."
"I like the elastic cord fit adjustment. Super comfortable from the get go."
Every sandal in the awning fails one of three tests: it slides on wet rock, it stays soaked, or it lets your foot drift inside it until the straps rub. This one is built to pass all three, and it comes down to three parts:
Water-resistant, not waterproof: they're made to get wet and dry fast, not to keep water out. Coast path, trail, river crossing and campsite is their range. For scrambling and deep mud, that's what your boots are for.

"My husband says the sandals are comfy, they're lightweight and sturdy for hiking. He's pleased with them."
"so comfortable, and also so stylish, getting loads of comments"
"Brilliant sandals. Light as a feather and fit well."
Sizes are unisex UK sizes, 4 to 12, with half sizes in between. Order your usual UK size. Two honest notes from customers: they come up slightly narrow, so if you have a wide foot or sit between sizes, take the half size up; and the heel strap is on the long side at the small end of the range, so cinch it fully.
No, and a sandal shouldn't be. They're water-resistant and built to get wet: the mesh upper lets water straight back out and dries within minutes, so a stream crossing or a shower doesn't cost you the rest of the walk. What they don't do is keep water out, and you wouldn't want them to.
Yes. That's one of the things they're for. Wade through, step out, keep walking; the upper drains and the textured footbed keeps your wet foot from sliding. The only thing to watch is the riverbed itself: wet rock is slippery under any sole, so place your feet.
Blisters in a sandal come from rubbing, and rubbing comes from a foot that moves inside the sandal. The bungee cord, the heel strap and the textured footbed are all there to stop that movement. Customers wear them straight out of the box on walking holidays without a break-in. If one spot does rub, it's usually a fit issue: re-cinch the cord and tighten the heel strap before you blame the sandal.
Well, for a sandal. The rubber outsole holds on wet stone, slipways, gravel and damp grass in a way a foam beach sandal never will. Honest limit: nothing grips wet, weed-covered rock at the tide line, and they're not built for deep mud or scrambling. For those, it's a boot day.
No. The toe is closed behind a bumper, so roots, rocks and dropped pebbles hit the sandal, not your toenails. You still get the open sides and the airflow of a sandal; you just don't get the stubbed toes.
Some will, in any sandal with a closed toe, especially on a beach. The upside of a closed toe is protection; the trade-off is that a bit of grit can ride along until you tip it out. On trail and coast path it's rarely a problem. On soft sand, expect to empty them once in a while.
You can, and plenty do on cooler mornings or for longer days. The closed toe and the cord fit work fine over a thin sock. Just set the fit with the socks on, because they take up a little room, and go for a synthetic or wool sock rather than cotton if they're going to get wet.
A full day on a coast path or a walking holiday is their natural range, and that's where most of the reviews come from. They're a sandal, so they don't give you the ankle support or the rock plate of a boot. For a long rough day with a heavy pack, that's still boot territory; for most summer days out, these are enough.
Rinse them in fresh water after the sea or a muddy walk, knock the grit out, and let them air dry out of direct heat. Being synthetic, they don't need any treatment or conditioning, and a dunk in the sea isn't a problem the way it is for leather.
Both. The sizing is unisex on the UK scale, so order your usual UK size whichever rail you normally shop from. Five colours, same build in all of them.
Send them back. They're covered by the 30-day return policy. If the fit's the issue, the size guide above is the place to start — a wide foot or a between-sizes foot usually wants the half size up — and the bungee cord takes care of the rest.
