ou're on the boat mid-afternoon and the sun is coming at you from every direction at once.
Off the water directly ahead. Off the water at your 4 o'clock. Reflected off the hull, the console glass, the wet decking. Your sunglasses are cutting the front but the sides are wide open — a strip of bright water bleeding into your peripheral vision from 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. Two hours in you're squinting through the gap around the frame and your eyes ache like you spent the day staring at snow.
These sunglasses solve the side-light problem with a full-rim square frame — coverage around the temples, no gap at the outer edges. Polarised TAC lenses handle the front. The frame handles the sides. Together, no bright strip anywhere in the vision field.
Here's how it works.
Polarised TAC lenses filter reflected light off flat surfaces — water, wet decking, glass. The horizontal light waves that bounce off the surface get blocked; the light coming from below the water passes through. Look at the lake through them and the mirror shifts to a window — you see the pike, the weed bed, the drop-off two metres deep.
The full-rim square frame runs the lens edge all the way to the temple on both sides. There's no floating rim or half-frame gap where side light gets around the lens. On open water — where the reflection comes at you from more than one direction — this is what stops the eye fatigue that builds through a long day.
Polycarbonate frame material keeps the whole thing light on the nose bridge and the ears. Not the kind of light where the glasses slide off on sweat; the kind where you forget you're wearing them until you take them off at the end of the day and realise the pressure just wasn't there.
Sports fit holds position through casting, walking a bank, or getting jostled around on the deck of a boat. The classic square profile reads as everyday eyewear off the water — not a wraparound that looks bolted to your face at the pub after.
