Description

The camp slides are on the floor next to the bedroll, and it's 5 AM and you need to get out of the tent.

You slip them on, walk to the fire, kick a wet rock, and one flies off into the grass. Now you're hopping on one foot at dawn trying to find a slide the color of last year's dead leaves. Or you left camp in the same pair yesterday, walked across a wet dock, slipped, and caught yourself on the boat cleat before you went in the water. Slides are supposed to be the easy footwear. Then you try to actually move in them and remember why the easy footwear is the wrong footwear.

These slides have both modes built in. Slip in and go when you're walking to the fire ring or the outdoor shower. Flip the heel strap up and it locks around the back of the foot when you actually need to move — up a boat ramp, across a wet dock, up the ladder to a stand.

Here's how it works.

The heel strap flips two ways. Left down, it sits flat against the outsole and the sandal wears as a pure slip-on — hand in, foot in, no bending over. Flipped up over the heel, it locks the foot in place. Same sandal, two modes, chosen in one second.

The sole is textured non-slip rubber — grip on wet tile, campsite dirt, damp grass, boat decks, and pool-side concrete. Cushioning underfoot means an hour of walking around camp doesn't turn into hot spots and sore arches the way a flat rubber slide does.

The upper is perforated for airflow — feet don't marinate in their own heat after a day in the sun. The rounded roomy toe box means no pinching on the outside of the little toe, which is where cheap slides always cut.

The gear it replaces:

  • Cheap plastic slides — slip on anything damp, fly off at the first step, flat sole after ten minutes of walking
  • Camp shoes with laces — solve the security problem but take a minute to put on when you're barefoot at 5 AM
  • Flip-flops — the strap wears through, the toe post hurts by hour two, no support anywhere
  • Trail runners for around camp — total overkill for walking twenty feet to the fire

What's in it:

  • Adjustable heel strap — flip down for slip-on, flip up for locked-in fit
  • Non-slip textured sole — grip on wet tile, decks, grass, and campsite dirt
  • Cushioned footbed — no hot spots on longer wear around camp or the yard
  • Ventilation holes across the upper — airflow instead of trapped heat
  • Rounded roomy toe box — no pinching on the little toe
  • Lightweight construction — packs flat in a duffel, doesn't add weight to a trip
  • Warm-weather build — spring, summer, and early fall at camp, at home, on the dock, or at the beach
  • Men's slide sandals and slip-on outdoor sandals in one — two wearing modes, one pair to pack
