The leg falls straight and wide from a fully elasticated waist, so nothing grips the thigh on a climb and nothing needs adjusting at the top of it. They come in nine colours and in sizes S to 3XL.

The waistband is elasticated the whole way round with an external drawcord and a front toggle, so they stay up without a belt. Chevron seam panels are set across each thigh and again below the knee, which is what lets the fabric bend where your leg bends rather than pulling against it.

Wear them on the towpath, over stiles, on a long day in the hills or for the walk to the shops afterwards. A cord and toggle at each ankle closes the leg when the path turns muddy and opens it again when it does not, so one pair covers a warm afternoon and a wet one.

Key Features:

Wide leg cut falls straight from the hip so the fabric never grips the thigh on a climb or a stile.

Fully elasticated waistband with an external drawcord and front toggle holds the trousers up all day without a belt digging in.

Two diagonal zip pockets sit high on the thigh and close properly, so a phone stays where you put it.

Two open hand pockets at the side seam give you somewhere to put cold hands on a winter walk.

Chevron seam panels across the thigh and below the knee let the trousers bend with the leg instead of pulling against it.

A mesh backed vent panel behind the waist moves air at the point that traps the most heat.

Cord and toggle hems close each leg over a boot in mud or open out to a full wide leg in warm weather.

Nine colours and a size range from S to 3XL, in a category that usually stops well short of that.

These are not waterproof, and we would rather say so here than have you find out on the hill. They are a warm weather and shoulder season walking trouser, built to be comfortable for a long day rather than to keep out sustained rain.

Terrabound makes outdoor kit for people who already know what they need.
